Madame Grès in Antwerp
Timeless, sculptural and utterly feminine: an overview of the work of the Parisian couturiere Madame Grès (1903-1993) is set to open in the Flemish town September 12.
The pioneering designer created seamless garments by draping and pleating fabric directly onto her model, without using scissors and needles. The couturière to the Duchess of Windsor, Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo was quoted as saying: "For me, working with stone or fabrics is the same thing."- Madame Grès.
